After my sister and myself, these boys are the babies of the family. They're even a joy to be around even when they're at their rambunctuous worst. I guess I can say that because they live a six-hour drive away and I only get to see them maybe two or three times a year.

It was a sunny but cold winter's afternoon in country Victoria and the sun was starting it's slow descent into the horizon when I realised it would be a perfect opportunity to take some pictures of the boys in the warm light.

Their eyes lit up as they saw the lenses and the tripod and the filters and immediately there were cries of "Take a picture of me, Erin!" and "No! Take a picture of ME!" resounding around the backyard.

Muscle-man and crazy-faced poses abound, I snapped away roll of film before they started getting bored and moved onto the swings, all grins and monkey-boy antics which they thought would make a good photo.

The good stuff happened when they forgot I was there for the most part (as is the way of cameras and children) and started playing with the dogs and then the trampoline - where I finally managed to get this, my favourite and probably best shot of the day.

Conspiratively I'd whispered to little M, "Honey, give your brother a big kiss!" for a laugh, thinking that being a boy (and most definitely his father's son) he would wrinkle his nose at the very idea. Not at all! He pounced his older brother and I got the shot.

All the while J giggled and squirmed and squealed in mock horror - "He's kissing me!"
