I heard about this place, north of Toronto, where the earth was red and the terrain looked like the classic badlands. So the wife and I packed up and went looking for it.

This was near the end of fall, but there was a touch of snow on the ground and the air was rather chilled. We had no idea, when we found the spot, that it was at the top of a ridge, with no wind break in sight. The blustery November wind made for quick shooting, but the results still worked out.

I thought that summer would have been better, to get the contrast of the green leaves against the red earth, but this shot worked, as the stripped trees laid bare the blue sky. I definitely have to go back, as I have heard there is an old brick factory nearby, which I would dearly love to shoot.
