I have a wall adorned with baby photos of my daughter. When my son turned six months old, I planned to capture this fleeting moment in photos so he would also have pictures on the wall. I did not want to be that mother with no pictures of the second child!

Said daughter is now four years old and is quite used to, and quite comfortable being, the star of the show and she is the one on whom the camera is trained. There were some jealousy issues at times with the new baby, and she decided that my photo shoot was going to be one of those times when she transformed from my loving adorable girl into a green headed jealous monster.

Every shot had her foot, her hand, or her running by so she was in the background.

After ten minutes of it I was getting very annoyed with her. I chose to appease her rather than fight with her. If there is any lesson I have learned as a mother, it is when to battle and when to just let it go. This was a let it go time.

"Fine," I said, "Come sit with your brother and I will take some pictures with

both of you first, and then I will take pictures of just him."

Happy with this arrangement, the jealous monster vanished and she knelt lovingly behind her brother, carefully putting her arms around him so she wouldn't tip him over. I watched my baby boy melt into his big sister.

When I see this picture I am not reminded of how annoyed I was with my daughter. I am reminded to slow down, to go with the flow. I am reminded that plans change and interruptions can be magical. I see love, peace, family, strength, and security.

No, it isn't the cute pictures I eventually took of just him that day that hang on my wall.
