This picture reminds me of many things. Firstly, all the jewellery shown is silver. This is because I have an allergic reaction to gold if I wear it, so I can only wear sterling silver. I discovered I had this when I was about ten and large red itchy blotches appeared all over my body. I spent one evening in hospital at Christmastime waiting for a doctor to prescribe something and that is what the conclusion was.
This photo also reminds me of some of my friends and family. I don’t really buy jewellery for myself so other people do. I think that it is a nice way to remember somebody by and what you did to receive it.
The ring was given to me by one of my good friends when I left my old secondary school. I love this ring and I wear it nearly all of the time, so I am in constant reminder of her. The medallion was given to my by my great aunt and uncle who I don’t see very often as they live in Wales. However, they always send me some jewellery at Christmas and they brought a lot of what I have in my jewellery box.
My mum brought the hoop earrings and I brought the studs. I placed them together in this picture, as I wanted it to be a reminder to my mum. I have wanted to get my ears pierced for the second time for a very long time, but she won’t let me. I often retort back, saying that when she was my age she had her ears pierced four times, but she still doesn’t let me. I suppose it’s because I am a teenager. But I will get my ears pierced one day, just in spite of my mother, even if I don’t want to anymore, because I have a stubborn streak. And that is number 47.
